Balancing and Inventory

The main goal of the balance changes in this patch is to make the game less grindy for players building large creations and bases, without making certain parts too powerful when used for base defense.

We’ve also addressed the high cost of building a car early in the game and made it easier to experiment with alternative vehicles by reducing engine costs and increasing the drop chance of Component Kits.

  • Rebalanced crafting costs across a wide range of building parts.
  • Rebalanced durability across several blocks and parts to match the new crafting costs.
  • Changes to buoyancy, friction, weight and flammability for a small selection of parts.
  • Increased default part stack sizes from 5 to 10, and small-part stack sizes from 10 to 20.
  • Increased Component Kit drop chances from Loot Crates.
  • Reduced Gas Engine and Electric Engine Ccomponent Kit crafting costs.
  • Increased Gas Engine and Electric Engine bearing connection limits by two at every level.
  • Fixed an issue where inventory sorting put parts before interactive; consumables now appear last when sorting.

Saving, Stability, and Modding

  • Added automatic save backup when opening a world from an older game version.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when shutting down the game.
  • Fixed various issues that could occur when starting a Challenge.
  • Scripts in mod directories will now refresh when changed if starting the game with -dev.
  • Fixed Mod Tool particle and effect caching.
  • Added detection of outdated caches for user generated content.
  • Reduced unnecessary navigation-mesh checks. Special thanks to drake1ch!
